Predict the score of Korona Kielce-GKS Belchatow match

PolandSoccer’s Five Matches To Watch This Weekend!

October 14, 2010 by

1. FC Koln-Borussia Dortmund. Friday 2:30 PM EST
This match will feature four Polish internationals but five Polish-born players (Counting Lukasz Podolski). After being red hot in the USA match, Kuba Blaszczykowski and Adam Matuszczyk will now face against each other. Both players were send back earlier from the Polish camp to rest for this match-up. Don’t expect Robert Lewandowski to start after a horrible international showcase with Poland.

2. Korona Kielce-GKS Belchatow Saturday 1:15 PM EST
As the Polish Ekstraklasa returns from international break, the hottest match on schedule for week 9 is Korona Kielce vs. GKS Belchatow. Its number two vs. number three in the standings. Red-hot Korona Kilece will look for a win and over take first place in the standings with Jagiellonia Bialystok loss.

3. Lyon-Lille Sunday 3:00 PM EST
After two very impressing international matches, Ludovic Obraniak returns to France and his side Lille will take on very poor Lyon. Lille currently sit third in the French Ligue 1. If we get lucky, we may also see Timothee Kolodziejczak play for Lyon. Kolodziejczak made three appearances for Lyon this season.

4. Auxerre-Bordeaux Saturday 1:00 PM EST
Two Polish internationals will be featured in this match; Dariusz Dudka and Irek Jelen. Both players weren’t at the Polish camp in North America. Jelen missed the tour beacuse of injury and Dudka was not allowed to leave by Auxerre.  All eyes are now on Dariusz Dudka who is set to return to the Polish national team. After Sebastian Boenisch went down for six months with an injury, Smuda is looking for a temporary left defender and Dudka just might be the guy.

5. Arsenal-Birmingham Saturday 10:00 AM EST
Another match to watch if Lukasz Fabianski gets to start. Its still unknown who will start in goal for Arsenal this weekend. Fabianski had a good game against Chelsea two weeks ago but the Gunnars lost 2:0. English media praised the Polish keeper.

Which match will you most defiantly catch this weekend?

PZPN Rejects Smuda Rumors!

October 14, 2010 by

Polish Football Association (PZPN) rejected rumors that national team coach Frank Smuda was resigning, after Poland’s winless streak stretched to eight games.

Smuda is facing mounting criticism of his tactics, as Poland prepares for Euro 2012, which is just over 600 days away.

“There is speculation that the manager has quit. Nothing of the sort has happened. Frank Smuda continues to lead the team,” a PZPN spokeswoman said.

Poland drew 2-2 with Ecuador during a friendly in Montreal, Canada, on Tuesday, following the same scoreline on Saturday against the United States in Chicago.

Majewski Unhappy

October 14, 2010 by

Notthigham Forest midfielder Radolsaw Majewski played only 8 minutes in Poland’s friendly match against Ecuador. After the Polish national team returned to Poland, Majewski did not hide his disappointment.

-”I played really short and I’m not happy about that.  If I didn’t get a chance to play against USA, then I thought I would play longer in the second match. Things turned out differently and therefore I’m not satisfied,” Majewski told reporters.

-”It would be nice if Smuda told me what he wants from a central midfielder. Maybe that will happen beacuse Smuda told me he will call me,” Majewski added.

Three Poles at Arsenal?

October 14, 2010 by

By Daniel Jagiello

Its probably just a rumor, but it sounds really, really cool. Especially if you’re Polish and a Gunners fan like me. But according to “The Sun” (English Newspaper), the Holy Goalie aka Artur Boruc, might be at armory square this winter since he has only been warming the bench at Fiorentina. It would be a shame for such a good keeper going to waste, but the Gunners can make the purchase (5 million euro should satisfy the Italian outfit) and imagine what magic Arsene Wenger could do to restore Boruc’s rightful reputation. The language shouldn’t be a barrier since Boruc has been in Scotland over the last few years, he should do fine. Excellent move and I’m sure if it works out, he’ll be better than Alumina… with that I am 100% positive. Fabianski will have tonnes of competition for #1 but possibly good mentoring too and not to forget young Sczeszny.
